Don’t Miss: The guacamole (price varies by season) made with fresh cilantro and served with tomatoes and sour cream. Be prepared to order extra chips. If you’re looking for something a little different, the hongos borrachos ($6.50) are mushrooms sautéed in pexcoco salsa, brandy, sweet butter and fresh garlic. The tamales ranchero ($14.75), your choice of pork, beef or chicken, will win over the haughtiest of Tex-Mex snobs. Interested in an alternative? Order the cactus enchiladas ($12.95), two corn tortillas folded over marinated cactus seasoned with Mayan spices, with white wine and red Monterey sauce.
