Style: Quaint Asian restaurant at the end of the busiest street in Ridgewood.

Don’t Miss: Start with green tea, which comes in a piping-hot kettle, large enough for two to share ($2). For appetizers, the chef’s special rolls are all tasty. Try the American Dream with shrimp tempura, tobiko, cucumber, and lettuce ($7), or the Volcano, a deep-fried roll with blue-crab meat, avocado, spicy tuna, and scallions ($9). For a main dish, check out Chef Lee’s crispy tangerine beef ($17), black cod fillet with garlic sauce ($16), or his famous sesame chicken ($12). Hibachi dinners ($17-$27) are also good choices. You can combine two or just have your pick of chicken, shrimp, steak, scallops, or lobster. Miso soup, salad with ginger dressing, fried noodles, and fried rice are included. The fried ice cream dessert ($4) is a must.

Heads up: They do not have a liquor license. No sake with your sushi!

The Scoop: Gen offers its complete menu for takeout and delivery, and has a second location in Montvale. Use the updated website to choose what you want—it even calculates the bill.
