Style: It’s all about the intimate atmosphere at the chic Lilly’s on the Canal, serving lunch and dinner. The interior of this restored barn, tucked along the canal path, has two floors of dining and a bar that surrounds the open kitchen in the middle of the room. The exposed brick walls, modern artwork, and a waterfall create the perfect ambience inside, while the patio out back provides plenty of seating by the water.

Don’t Miss: The crispy jumbo lump crab cakes served with a cool lime-cilantro aioli ($12), or the very popular house salad—baby greens mixed with candied pecans, goat cheese, sun-dried fruits, and homemade balsamic vinaigrette ($9) make great starters. For dinner, try the chicken prosciutto, a pan-seared chicken breast covered with prosciutto and melted provolone cheese and topped with a sun-dried tomato cream sauce, served over a generous heap of Lilly’s signature eggplant fries ($20), or the organic king salmon fillet, grilled with a teriyaki ginger-scallion glaze and served with a sauté of vegetables over basmati rice ($27). Other popular dishes include the classic penne à la vodka ($15), and the grilled Kobe beef burger topped with sharp cheddar cheese, applewood bacon, red onion, tomato, and lettuce, and served with sweet potato fries and onion rings ($18). As for dessert, you will be tempted at the door by the display case featuring seven-layer chocolate cake, pies, and creamy chocolate mud cake ($8), served with sliced strawberries and whipped cream, all prepared by local bakeries.

Heads Up: The wine list is priced by the bottle, with nine selections from the nearby Alba’s Vineyard in Milford. Can’t polish off the whole bottle? Lilly’s is also BYO.

The Scoop: Owner Lilly Salvatore has a few other eateries across the Delaware River in Doylestown, Pennsylvania (including the new Smokin’ Lil’s barbecue joint and Lilly’s Cocina Loca, which has a Latin-American vibe).
