Style: Warm, upscale Mexican restaurant with two full-service bars, lively music, friendly service, and outdoor seating.

Don’t Miss: Start your meal with grande nachos ($8), a considerable serving of corn chips topped with onions, fresh chopped tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, refried beans, and melted cheddar and Jack cheese. Add ground beef, shredded chicken, or pork for only $3. The newly revamped menu boasts fourteen different burritos. The Yucatan ($10) is generously stuffed with shredded chicken, refried beans, Mexican rice, cheddar and Jack cheese, sautéed onions, and peppers. My personal favorite is the Cuervo lime garlic shrimp burrito ($11), packed with stewed marinated shrimp, Mexican rice, and black beans. If you want a fuller plate, try one of Sol’s signature dishes. The chicken mole ($16) is made using a choice of chicken breast or chicken on the bone with chef Juan Paisano’s traditional mole sauce, which is made from dried chilies, Mexican chocolate, and Mayan spices paired with Mexican rice and pinto beans. End your meal indulgently with two large scoops of Sol’s homemade fried ice cream ($6), coated in cereal, and deep-fried. The flavors are rotated daily.

Heads Up: Sol is typically packed on weekends, but accepts reservations only for parties of six or more. Call ahead on Friday and Saturday evenings to get an approximate wait time. The private parking lot provides ample spots in front and back of the building.

The Scoop: There are bar specials every day. Monday, get a bucket of five Coronitas for $7. Tuesday is $2 Mexican bottled beers, and half off sangria. Thursday all house margaritas are $2, and Sol bottles are $2 every day.
