Style: You’ll feel on vacation the moment you enter. This popular seafood and crab house has no pretense, just friendly service, charming ambience and lusty food.

Don’t Miss: The steam pot experience. As in a Maryland crab house, servers cover the table with newspaper, put down a roll of paper towels and give each eater a bib, wooden mallet and claw cracker. Then comes the big, steaming iron pot, overflowing with potatoes, carrots smoked kielbasa, corn on the cob and your choice of seafood. The Crabby Combo ($39.99) has a Dungeness crab cluster, a snow crab cluster and a pound of clams; the Shellfish Pot ($32.99) has a pound each of mussels and clams and 12 peel-n-eat shrimp; the Maine Event (market price) has a whole lobster and a pound of clams. Still hungry? Beer-battered fish and chips ($19.49) is tasty, as is lobster ravioli ($23.99) in creamy seafood sauce. Meat lovers can dig into barbecued baby back ribs (half rack, $20.99). Daintier appetites will find the crab cake sandwich ($13.99) or mahi-mahi wrap ($13.99) just right. And there are grilled fish entrées, burgers, wraps and salads.

Heads Up: The bar draws a crowd, especially during happy hour, daily from 3 to 6 pm. Enjoy half-price just-about-everything, including appetizers.

The Scoop: Situated on LBI’s miles-long main drag, booby-trapped with overpriced, underwhelming fried-food vacation joints, Terrace Tavern stands out for its fresh seafood and those hearty, participatory steam pots.
