Walt Street Pub
180 Monmouth Street, Red Bank
732-741-5936

Hours: Mon–Sat, 8 am to 2 am, ; Sun, 11 am–2 am.

Price: $

Style: Pub atmosphere complete with lots of neon signs, wooden tables and chairs, and multiple flat-screen TVs—tuned to sports programs, unless a band is playing.

Don’t Miss: The Buffalo wings have a loyal following and can be ordered mild, hot, or “killer death” (12/$8.50, 17/$10.50, 30/$16.95).For a meat lover, the juicy flame-broiled Walt Street burger ($6.95) is 10-ounces and plump with bleu cheese and bacon. Have it with a basket of perfectly crisp french fries ($3.25).Philly cheesesteak ($5.95) with sauteed onions and gooey cheese is good enough to rival those found in the City of Brotherly Love. Beyond standard pub fare are entrees such as mussels marinara over pasta ($11.95), and chicken Murphy with potatoes, peppers, and onions. There is also a good share of Tex-Mex cuisine to choose from, including Mexican pizza ($7.95). At twelve inches, it is large enough for two and is topped with salsa, peppers, onions, mushrooms, and jalapeños. There are also chicken and beef burritos ($8.95), which come with rice and beans. Steak ranchero ($12.95) is a filling serving of beef, sauteed peppers, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and rice and beans.

Heads Up: A departure from the upscale, expensive dining spots that are plentiful in downtown Red Bank, this is a loud, often-crowded bar scene. Walt’s hosts bands (rock and jazz) two or three times weekly.

The Scoop: The crowd here is more interested in music, drinking, and socializing than the food and that is somewhat reflected in the absentminded table service.
