Style: A popular spot on Allentown’s Main Street, this country-style breakfast and lunch nook has been serving comfort food to repeat customers for almost 30 years.

Don’t Miss: Start with the Dog Pile platter, your choice of a generous serving of bacon, sausage, pork roll, Canadian bacon, or Virginia ham, three eggs, home fries, and toast ($8.59), or the western egg-white omelet with ham, cheese, onions, and peppers ($8.89). For lunch, try a Woody’s Special—twelve sandwich choices served on hearth bread baked on premise. The Woody #8 features roasted peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, sautéed broccoli and garlic, and mozzarella cheese ($8.39). Woody’s also has hoagies, Reubens, and burgers, including the Big Don Platter—two four-ounce burgers topped with Russian dressing, Cheddar, and fried onions on Texas toast ($8.49), and the Sloppy Joe Club —a triple-decker rye club with turkey, ham, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing, and coleslaw ($6.99).

Heads Up: A great time to stop in may be Allentown Harvest Festival Weekend (October 11 and 12), when you can also check out arts and crafts, food, live music, children’s activities, a lakeside tea social, Civil War encampment and demonstrations, and antique car show.

The Scoop: Woody’s may be a local favorite, but chef/owner Donald “Woody” Wood and his crew know how to make anyone feel like part of the neighborhood with home-style cooking in this old-fashioned Jersey town.
