Attention, Adam Sandler fans!
The sequel to the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore is looking for New Jersey locals to work as extras when it films around the Garden State this fall.
Grant Wilfley Casting, Inc., a longtime New York casting agency, is hosting an open casting call this Tuesday, August 20, from 1-8 pm at the Hyatt Recency Morristown Plaza Ballroom (3 Speedwell Avenue, Morristown). If you can’t attend the casting call but are still interesting in being considered, create a profile via gwci.app/talent. No acting experience is required.
A casting notice has full instructions.
The Netflix-produced movie is set to shoot in Bergen, Essex, Monmouth, Morris and Somerset counties from September through November.
The pay rate for members of SAG-AFTRA is $216 for 8 hours. Non-SAG pay rate is $176 for 10 hours.
The long-anticipated sequel to Happy Gilmore was greenlit by Netflix in May.
“It’s been almost 30 years since we last saw Happy Gilmore, the long-driving hero who won in the Tour Championship in 1996,” Netflix said at the time. “Now, we finally get to catch up with him in a new sequel. That’s right, Adam Sandler is returning to the golf green as Happy Gilmore, and he’s bringing his powerful slap shot with him. No word on any alligators.”
In Happy Gilmore, Sandler, now 57, played the titular golfer, so we imagine that one (or several) of New Jersey’s beautiful golf courses could be featured in the sequel. Netflix has not yet announced a release date for the movie.
