A Hearty Harvest Of Happenings

An upcoming food-truck fest, farm dinners and a Hoboken wine tasting.

As Yogi Berra once said, “The future ain’t what it used to be.”

Right as usual, Yogi: But now there’s a first in the culinary world to look forward to, and it’s happening at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls.

More than 20 food trucks and 50 types of craft brews will be in the spotlight Saturday, October 21 from noon to 7 pm at the stadium located at 8 Yogi Berra Drive, near the intersection of Routes 3 and 46. The stadium is home to the New Jersey Jackals professional baseball team.

However, on the day of the first Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival to be presented by the Jackals, a variety of edibles will be on the plates.

Food vendors will include Churroland, Clyde’s Homemade Italian Ice & Ice Cream, Coney Island Wood-Fired Pizza, Glazed and Confused’s mini donuts, Jersey Jack’s Kettle Corn, Micheles Bistro, Rolling Pita, Texas Smoke Barbecue, V-Twins Concessions’ fried Oreos and funnel cakes, and Zoelily Empanadas.

In the beer garden, festival-goers can sample beverages from Angry Orchard, Ballast Point, Cricket Hill, Curious Traveler, Defiant, Doc’s, Evil Genius, Great Lakes, Heavy Seas, Jersey Girl, New Belgium, 1911, Redd’s, Sam Adams, Sly Fox, Sierra Nevada, Shiner, Blue Moon, Terrapin, Newburgh, Yuengling and Schofferhoffer.

Entry fee is $5; free for children 12 and younger. Foods and brews will be sold at additional cost. Parking, entertainment and games are free, except for the mechanical bull ride. Beer garden tokens are $5 each for a 12-ounce pour; beer sampling tickets are $10 for a souvenir mug and tickets for five 5-ounce samples.

Tickets can be purchased online at jackals.com or at the gate the day of the event.

Fall at the Farm:

Friday evening farm-to-table dinners have begun at Beach Plum Farm, 140 Stevens Street in West Cape May.

Now an autumn tradition, the dinners will continue through Friday, November 17.

The dinners take place in various settings at the farm and are created by Beach Plum Farm’s executive chef Todd Phillips. On some Fridays this year, Phillips will be joined by collaborating colleagues who also lead kitchens in the area, including Jason Hanin of The Ebbitt Room; Jeremy Einhorn of Blue Pig Tavern; and Jimmy Burton of Rusty Nail. The dinners are BYOB; mixers can be provided for those who wish to make craft cocktails.

Reservations are required for each dinner. The cost per person is $80, plus 20 percent for tax and tip. For Friday dinner details and reservations, visit beachplumfarmcapemay.com.
