NJ Wines in the Spotlight

An Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association Event brings together grape growers, vintners, retailers and more.

The first tasting and discussion to be staged in New Jersey by the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association (ASWA) will take place from 5 to 8 pm, Tuesday, August 15 at the Rutgers Agricultural Research Extension Center located at 121 Northville Road in Bridgeton.

The event is designed to showcase wines from New Jersey. The ASWA is the premier organization dedicated to growing and developing the wine industry on the East Coast. It has offered similar events in New York, Virginia and California, sharing wines, ideas and contacts in a tasting-and-forum setting.

Present at the event will be New Jersey wine-grape growers and vintners, ASWA board members, retailers and restaurateurs, wine and food writers, and members of the hospitality industries.

Helping to organize the event are New Jersey-based ASWA board member Paul Tonacci; Dan Ward, extension agent at Rutgers University; Tom Cosentino, executive director of the Garden State Winemakers Association, and Grant Crandall, president of ASWA.

Additional presenters include Rutgers and the Outer Coastal Plain Vineyard Association.

Sponsors are Villa Barone and 1892 Cacao Arriba Ecuador.

The cost per person is $10. For information, contact Tonacci at 732-567-1551 or by e-mail at [email protected].
