Cinnaholic, Metuchen

Opening Friday, August 5, Cinnaholic is bringing sweets to town. The East Coast and Canadian operation grand opening is taking place from 10 am–2 pm and includes $2 cinnamon rolls. Cinnaholic offers plant-based, vegan, kosher and allergen-friendly cinnamon rolls with flavors like caramel apple pie, Cookie Monster, s’mores and more. Cinnaholic Metuchen is owned and operated by Jersey native Danny Cohen.

Ossu Japanese Tavern, Atlantic City

This new restaurant opened inside Tropicana at the end of July. The menu features a modern take on Japanese street food and includes over 50 examples of Japanese whiskey and sake. Guests can enjoy sushi, poke bowls, dumplings and more. Open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, 5–11 pm, and Friday and Saturday, 9 pm–1 am.

Carnegie Diner & Café, Secaucus

Manhattan’s Carnegie Diner is opening its first Jersey location on August 18. The diner features all-day breakfast, salads, sandwiches and entrees such as fish ‘n’ chips, spaghetti carbonara, rib-eye steak and more. For dessert, over-the-top milkshakes include chocolate pancake strawberry, brownie extravaganza and Oreo cookie cake.

Birdsmouth Beer, Oceanport

This brewery is slated to open in the Oceanport section of Fort Monmouth in late summer/early fall. The project, headed by Denholtz Properties and Birdsmouth Beer, is operated by co-founders Andrew Gioia, former head brewer at Kane Brewing, and Rocco Laginestra. Expect a tasting room and an array of carefully crafted beers.

sweetgreen, Shrewsbury

The popular salad chain is opening its newest location this week. Summer offerings include peach and goat cheese salad, a teriyaki bowl, a pesto summer veggie side dish and more. On opening day, the restaurant is donating one meal for every meal purchased to Lunch Break, a Monmouth County organization that fights food insecurity in the state. The new location has indoor and outdoor seating, and is open daily from 10:30 am–8 pm.
