Dad’s Weekend: A Beer Pairing Dinner, Craft Brew Tastings And A Golf Tourney

Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg hosts its 9th annual beer and food festival.

The New Jersey Beer & Food Festival heads into its 9th year with a three-day event set for Friday, June 16 through Sunday, June 18 at Crystal Springs Resort in Sussex County.

Highlights include a Chefs & Brews dinner; a beer tasting featuring more than 150 beers; a golf tournament and  Sunday Brews Brunch.

Friday, June 16, 7 pm: The chefs-brews dinner features pairings from Jersey Girl Brewing Co., a craft brewer from Mount Olive. Dinner starts with a reception of passed canapés and beer cocktails. The resort’s executive chef Anthony Bucco will serve a four-course menu of Mangalitsa charcuterie with whisky-soaked cherries, stout mustard and artisan breads; Berkshire pork belly with olives, pistachios and avocado; and porchetta with Pine Island potatoes, dandelion and romesco; and, for dessert, strawberries with lavender, shortbread and whipped yogurt.  Tickets are $125 per person.

Saturday, June 17, 9 am: Brews & Birdies Tourney will play out on the resort’s Wild Turkey golf course. The tournament will feature 18 holes of golf, with stops for craft beer tastings on four different holes. Tickets are $195 and include admission to the Beer Festival tent. Saturday, June 17 at 2 pm for VIP admission and 3 pm for general admission: The Beer Festival takes place under a tent, rain or shine. The craft brews will be accompanied by grilled Berkshire pork, grass-fed beef, lamb, free-range chickens and rabbit. Tickets are $75 for general admission and $100 for VIPs. Designated drivers will be charged $35.

Sunday, June 18, with seatings at 10 am and 12:30 pm: The Brews Brunch will be served in the chef’s garden. Growlers of beer will be accompanied by selections that include wood-fired mushroom frittata, jerk chicken and smoked Berkshire pork shoulder. The cost of the brunch is $39 per person or $19 for children ages 4 to 12, not including tax and tip. Children under age 3 are free of charge.

Hudson Whiskey Four-Course Dinner Thursday, June 8, 7 pm at Blue Morel, 2 Whippany Road, Morristown. Reservation cut-off date is Tuesday, June 6. All courses paired with whiskies and bourbons; guests will be welcomed with a barrel-aged cocktail. Cost is $99 per person, not including tax and tip. To reserve, call 973-451-2619.
