Openings

Lo Sfizio, Parsippany

A new Italian street-food restaurant has opened in Parsippany, offering classic fare like Pizzetta Montanara (fried pizza), Olive All’asconala (fried green olives stuffed with meat) and Suppli alla Romana (fried rice croquettes). Several hot and cold sandwiches are also available, such as the Spaccanapoli (focaccia bread loaded with layers of prosciutto di Parma, mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, olive oil and balsamic). Owner Josephina Spinosa, who was born in Naples, Italy, grew up working in his family’s pizzeria in Pennsylvania.

This new Glen Rock restaurant will serve a variety of American and Greek foods. Breakfast options include sandwiches and burritos, omelets and waffles. Lunch and dinner options include burgers, hot dogs and gyros. Try out some of their specialty fries (Buffalo chicken, anyone?). Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options are available, too.

Surreal Creamery, Ridgewood

The popular ice cream chain has opened its third Jersey location in Ridgewood. Order a bubble tea or a signature mason jar sundae, like the Matcha Made in Heaven (matcha ice cream, Lucky Charms cereal and caramel syrup). Fans of both treats can try out a Flotea (ice cream topped with bubble tea). This place is an influencer’s dream.

The Blended Bistro, Cliffside Park

After successfully operating for nine months out of a popular food truck, the Blended Bistro has opened a permanent spot in Cliffside Park. Chef Maddy’s menu offers a blend of Cuban-American dishes such as picadillo and pernil, plus Italian classics like penne alla vodka. The food truck will continue to operate regularly alongside the brick-and-mortar location.
