Open:

—Vegans Are Us just opened on Landis Avenue in Vineland, with owner and Vineland native Sharonda Harris-Bunton putting a “touch of soul,” i.e. rich, homey, savory twists on her menu to give vegan food the same, well, carnal appeal as animal-derived alternatives. You’ll find dishes like Cashew Mac n’ Cheese, Philly V Steak, and Pulled BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich, and a bunch of more familiar fare (alongside coffees and juices and smoothies). The space also seems set up for music, possibly for Fridays and weekends. Vegans Are Us, 636 East Landis Avenue, Vineland; 856-457-5026

Moved, Reopened, and In the Works:

—Neither tenants are new businesses, but there was some movement among the state’s beverage purveyors last week: William Heritage Winery moved into the former home of King’s Road Brewing Company, who moved into a larger space in downtown Haddonfield (and that’s great news for craft beer lovers, since, as we noted in January, that means a massive uptick in production for the popular brewery). King’s Road opened its new space last Friday—with a nice-looking party—but you’ll have to wait until the spring of 2020 for the Mullica Hill-based William Heritage Winery to open a brand new satellite tasting room in the Haddonfield space. King’s Road Brewing Company, 131 King’s Highway East, Haddonfield; 856-427-8100 and William Heritage Winery Tasting Room, 127 King’s Highway East, Haddonfield; no phone yet.

In the Works:

—The owners of the Latham House in Jersey City have a new restaurant coming to the Journal Square PATH Plaza. Sometime, hopefully not too deep into the Winter of 2020, Emma’s will open its doors to hungry and thirsty PATH riders, commuters, and Jersey City denizens alike. To be run by Latham House owners’ daughter Emma Latham, the restaurant will occupy the former home of P.J. Ryan’s and will be a full service restaurant complete with liquor license and—because it’s Jersey City—will of course be doing brunch service. No exact opening date yet, jut a rough 2020 estimate, but work does seem to be fleet (pending sleet). Emma’s, 4 Path Plaza, Jersey City; no phone yet.

—It’s a while yet until we can comfortably think about the beach, wearing a bathing suit (as opposed to a parka). But with a little bit of the promise of warmer weather implied, we can report that seasonal BYO Black Eyed Susans in Harvey Cedars is set to open a second, year-round location in the spring of 2020. It’s not clear who among the original chef-owners is taking the helm at the new spot (they’re currently hiring a chef de cuisine, so there’s a chance it’s none of them). But we do know that, as with the original restaurant, the new Black Eyed Susans will emphasize seasonal eating, drawing from the same long list of local purveyors that currently supply the original restaurant. No location yet but the new spot will also be in Harvey Cedars. Black Eyed Susans, 7801 Long Beach Boulevard, Harvey Cedars; 609-494-4990
