Amore in Woodland Park is a Great Find

A gem hidden in an indistinguishable strip mall, Amore is a good option if you find yourself in the area.

It is fun finding local restaurants in indistinguishable strip malls that you would not try unless recommended by someone whose palate you trust. Such is the case with Amore restaurant, which was filled with regulars when we dined there on a Monday evening. Yes, you are probably thinking, “Oh no, another Italian restaurant.” But Amore is a good option if you find yourself in the Woodland Park area.

Warm bread—butter in foil and olive oil, on request—is placed on the table when seated. Specials, and there were many, were recited without the prices. A scrumptious and sizable appetizer consisting of tender octopus with sauteed red peppers, artichokes, pitted olives and greens was dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. It can easily be shared by two. Entrees were also impressive. A beautifully cooked bronzini was buttery and sweet paired up with a salad of mixed greens, red onions and tomatoes. And while it was not Sunday, a “Sunday Special” containing sweet sausage, two meatballs and beef bracciole that was stuffed with parsley, garlic and parm cheese in a hearty red sauce, was a stomach warming and filling dish on a cold night. A house-made chocolate layer cake accompanied by whipped cream was shared for dessert.
