Hudson House in Jersey City

RESTAURANT OPENINGS & UPDATES

Hudson House • Jersey City

Chef David Felton is taking over the kitchen at Landmark Hospitality’s Hudson House, which has been closed for the past year. With 10 years of experience as executive chef of Ninety Acres in Peapack-Gladstone, Felton is looking forward to opening an a la carte restaurant and rooftop lounge in early summer, which will have identities separate from Hudson House’s catering venue. With magnificent views of the Statue of Liberty and the Upper New York Bay, Hudson House reopened for catering this past weekend. Felton says he’s “just excited to get back into the kitchen.”

Pierogi Cafe • Waldwick

A local mom of four is showcasing her love for pierogi and other Polish specialties in a new modern cafe space that opened in early March. The pierogi are handmade every day, stuffed with meat (buffalo chicken or bacon and cheddar), vegetables (spinach and feta or sauerkraut and mushrooms), as well as sweet options (like apple cinnamon, strawberry or sweet cheese). Other menu items include Grilled Kielbasa, Golabki (stuffed cabbage), Zapiekanka (toasted bread with mushrooms and cheese) and a soup of the day. Assorted coffee beverages are on the menu, and the cafe is home to the “Waldwick Gallery,” showing artwork by local children. Open every day except Sunday.

Albertino’s Italian  Collingswood

Chef Marco Alberto Gallelli and his family gained a loyal customer base over the past year and a half at their Berlin location, and after an opportunity opened up to move their Italian restaurant to Collingswood, they decided to take it. Closing the Berlin location in January, Albertino’s new, rustic space opened in early March, and holds around 50 seats. Gallelli’s daughter, Maria, is the manager, and his wife, also named Maria, makes all the soups and desserts. The full menu includes Italian classics like Pollo alla Calabrese (chicken breasts with wild mushrooms and white wine), Pappardelle Mare e Monte (with shrimp, mushrooms and light cream), and Burrata con Vegetali (with grilled veggies and a fig glaze). Call to make reservations.

Olivia’s  Hoboken

The space, formerly Sasso’s Liquors, has been under construction, with brown paper covering the windows and small signs out front. The new Olivia’s Dining and Cocktails was set to open in March 2020, but Covid-19 pushed the plan back a year. New signage was recently posted, stating that Olivia’s is set to open in mid-April. Details to come on their Instagram page. Email [email protected] for more information.
