Farm to Table Dinner at Hauser Hill Farms

The chef from Boulevard 752 in Kenilworth will prepare a four-course meal on Saturday, July 11.

On Saturday, July 11, a four-course Farm-to-table dinner with wine pairings prepared by chef Scott Snyder of Boulevard Five 72 in Kenilworth and hosted by Heirloom Kitchen, Old Bridge will be held at Hauser Hill Farms, 336 Ticetown Road, Old Bridge. 5 PM; $160 with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Farmers Against Hunger. Rain Date: Sunday, July 12 at 4 PM. The following menu will be presented:

Hors d’oeuvres: farm’s green-bean tempura; ancho chili shrimp corndog; yellow fin tuna tartar taco; Tuscan meat balls & Parmesan polenta crisp; mezza plate with pita chips; and citrus cured salmon & potato latkes

Heirloom tomato gazpacho with Maine lobster salad, caponata and basil aïoli

Day-boat cod with pesto crust New Jersey clams, leek & sweet corn “chowder,” apple smoke lardons and fingerling potato

Angus beef tenderloin chateaubriand 12 hour braised short rib empanadas, artichoke barigoule, vanilla cauliflower puree, confit tomato and bordelaise reduction

Strawberry & rhubarb crisp of almond cake, black pepper anglaise and honey ricotta gelato

WINE WEDNESDAYS AT THE RYLAND, INN, WHITEHOUSE STATION
Throughout the summer, “Wine Wednesdays” are celebrated at The Ryland Inn, 115 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse Station (908-534-4011). Chat with sommelier Kristin Wright as she educates you on a different tasting theme each week. All tastings are held in their Duck Bar or on the patio and guests are welcome to remain after class for dinner on the patio or in the dining room. Upcoming events include “Old World vs. New World,” “Sherry Tasting,” and “Rose Tastings.” The cost is $20 and includes wine flights and lite bites.

THE NEW JERSEY STATE BARBECUE CHAMPIONSHIP
The New Jersey State Barbecue Championship will be held at Monmouth Park, Oceanport to benefit the Anglesea Volunteer Fire Company. Along with ribs, chicken, brisket, pork and other foods the event will feature live music, cooking demonstrations and special displays. Over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded. Admission is free.

TUESDAY, JULY 14
BASTILLE DAY DINNER
A three-course Bastille Day dinner will be held at Rat’s Restaurant, 16 Fairgrounds Road, Hamilton; $39, with wine pairing and an additional $15. For reservations, call 609-584-7800.
