Feast in the Fields of Lumberton

Fred Kellermann, chef/owner of Elements in Haddon Heights will present a dinner on August 22 and 23.

In their effort to increase public awareness of local farmers, Fred Kellermann, chef/owner of Elements in Haddon Heights, will present “Feast in the Fields 2015” on August 22 and August 23 at the 1895 Organic Farm, 303 Landing Street in Lumberton. The following menu will be served:

Hors d’oeuvres: Bruschetta du jour; pickled eggplant and pepper relish crustini; grilled clams with tomato oregano mignonette; BBQ spice crab salad with cucumber roll; and BBQ chicken slider with celery slaw

Chilled cucumber soup with almond hot pepper granola

Kale salad with grilled zucchini, stone fruit and sunflower seed pesto

Grilled New York strip and shrimp succotash with herb braised potatoes and roasted garlic compound butter

Lemon basil and summer fruit parfait with spearmint cookies and just picked watermelon

Vegetarian entrees available upon request. Rain dates August 27 and 28. Saturday 5 PM; Sunday 4 PM; $55 per person includes gratuity. Reservations: 856-546-8840.

FESTIVAL OF PEACHES
Through mid-September, The Frog and the Peach, 29 Dennis Street, New Brunswick will offer a five-course New Jersey peach tasting menu ($64) along with wine pairings ($45 or $70) Reservations: 732-846-3216.

Caldwell Restaurant Week will be held from Sunday, August 9th through Sunday, August 16th, with participating restaurants offering specially priced dinners.

SUMMER EXTRAVAGANZA
Jersey peaches, corn and tomatoes will be featured at the community celebration in honor of the agricultural heritage of Sickles Market, 1 Harrison Avenue, Little Silver, and 350 years of farming in New Jersey. This event will be held from 5 to 8 PM and include live music, a full BBQ menu, meet and greet with local vendors and farmers, and kids activities. For more information, visit their website.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 8
CRAFT AND BEER FESTIVAL
The Fourth Annual Craft Beer & Crab Festival will be held on the grounds of the Physick Estate, 1048 Washington Street, Cape May, featuring local craft beers, favorite summer picnic foods, such as steamed crabs, crab cakes, steamed shrimp, pulled pork, corn on the cob, potato salad and more. Admission to the grounds is free but there is a charge for food, beverages and some activities. Bring home a commemorative pint glass or T-shirt. 11 AM to 8 PM.
