Celebrate “Music Mondays” Outdoors at South + Pine in Morristown

Plus: Other food experiences in Lavallette, Cape May and Chester.

Music Mondays at South + Pine
Monday, July 13, 5:30–8:30pm

Aptly self-described as a “cure for the Sunday Scaries,” Music Mondays are kicking off at Leia Gaccione’s South + Pine restaurant in Morristown. Granted, we think chowing down on any of Gaccione’s cuisine is dreamy enough (e.g. this is what comfort food pasta looks like at South + Pine right now). But Gaccione has been going all-in, next-level during Covid times, with regular Instagram updates, a Patio Yoga collaboration, and a Sammie Saturday sandwich series that somehow makes the weekend seem even friendlier? But now you can calm some of those Sunday-to-Monday nerves by looking forward to good food the South + Pine patio space with live music from an accomplished jazz trio (Naomi Schulman on vocals, Lucas Perez on saxophone, and Garbriie Gonazales on guitar). Reservations for dinner (and so, the show) are highly recommended. South + Pine, 90 South Street, Morristown; 862-260-9700

Broadway Cabaret Sing-a-Long
Thru September 7

“The show must go on” doesn’t appear to be a phrase you have to use at the Music Man Singing Ice Cream Shoppe in Lavallette—they’ve been putting on their weekly cabarets and intermittent kid-friendly shows (“Elsa and Friends”) for a while now. They’re doing Sing-a-Longs Sunday through Tuesday, with Disney shows on Wednesday and Thursday and Elsa and Friends on Friday and Saturday. Bear in mind this is dessert-and-a-show; The Music Man has a nice menu of overloaded ice cream sundaes and banana splits to go with the fanfare. The shows are all outdoors at the moment, and you can book a ticket for Friday night (or any upcoming show) here. The Music Man Singing Ice Cream Shoppe, 2305 Grand Central Avenue, Lavallette; (732) 854-2779

Vegan BBQ at Dean’s Natural Foods
Tuesday, July 14, 6–7pm

Dean’s Natural Food Market in Chester plans on having social distancing implemented for their in-person Vegan BBQ class on Tuesday, July 14. Health and natural wellness expert Jessica Jarmer will be leading the class, which will include (carefully distributed) tastings as well as recipes. Best part—it’s entirely free. Dean’s Natural Food Market, 270 Route 206, Chester; 908-888-2256

Farm and Fin Dinner Series at Beach Plum Farm
Saturday, July 25, 6:30pm

Cape Resorts has been waiting patiently for summer for a long time, and now that they’re up and running (with some careful additions to service), Beach Plum Farm can also do its thing—farm-fresh produce showcased in elegant, seasonal cuisine. The Farm and Fin dinner series will pair up summer produce and fresh-caught seafood. It’s $98, plus a service fee and tax, but then you’re all set for the evening. It’s also BYOB, which means you can cart along anything bubbly, bright, or both for your sipping pleasure. You can reserve online, at [email protected], or call. Beach Plum Farm, 140 Stevens Street, West Cape May; 833-327-6268
