Freshwater Fisheries Forum on Saturday, January 20

All the need-to-know info about fishing in Jersey waters.

Going fishing?

Take note: A public forum to discuss freshwater fisheries research, management and recreational angling in New Jersey will be held on Saturday, January 20 at the Charles O. Hayford State Fish Hatchery, at 23 Reese Avenue in Hackettstown.

The forum at the Hackettstown Hatchery will begin at 10 am.

The state Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Fish and Wildlife holds forums to improve communication with the angling public and to solicit public input in shaping freshwater fisheries programs in the future. The forums are an opportunity for all freshwater anglers to learn about existing programs and to share their views and recommendations.

Topics cover all aspects of freshwater management, including both warmwater and coldwater fisheries. This year, results of the Round Valley Reservoir Fisheries Inventory, and Hackettstown Hatchery fish production activities will be presented. An open discussion on ways to improve and promote the division’s “Skilled Angler Recognition Program” will be included.

An open discussion with professional staff to answer any questions or address concerns of anglers will take place during the extended question-and-answer period.

Pre-registration is recommended. Individuals can pre-register by calling 908-236-2118 or by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. Please include your name, address, phone number and the number of people attending.
