Fun Ideas For The Holiday That Celebrates Romance

Make Your Valentine's Day Reservations!

Cafe Mumford’s, the restaurant located at the mecca known as Mumford’s Culinary Center, 33 Apple Street in Tinton Falls, is opening reservations for its Valentine’s Tasting Dinner.

The dinner, to be presented on two dates this year—Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10—is cooked by the award-winning chefs who run the culinary center: Debbie and Chris Mumford. Reservations can be made between the hours of 5 and 8:30 pm, with each seating lasting about two hours. The cost of the multi-course dinner is $68 per person, not including tax or tip.

Here’s the menu, which is based on produce grown right there on the Mumford’s farmette at the culinary center and many ingredients sourced locally:

Appetizer: Artichoke hearts Française or creamy goat cheese and basil polenta with wild mushrooms

Salad: February’s salad of winter escarole and baby spinach, with char-grilled vegetables, Israeli couscous, toasted almonds and tossed with a spiced yogurt dressing

Fish: Crispy seared codfish loin on whipped parsnips, with melted leeks and with roasted red pepper oil or Maine lobster salad on a house-made roll

Entrée: Jalapeno-mojo marinated free bird chicken thighs in soft, flour tortilla, with seasoned green cabbage, grilled red onion, roasted poblanos with blood-orange and corn salsa or Roaming Acres Farm braised Berkshire pork over rustic potato hash

Dessert: Vanilla macaron with cannoli cream and pistachios, or a tasting plate of salted shortbread chocolate chunk cookie, with a peanut-butter chocolate brownie and a chocolate-raspberry dome

Doesn’t this menu put you in the mood for love?

Don’t tarry; the Mumford’s special dinners always sell out. Reservations require a credit card number and can be made by calling 732-747-7646.
