Sake Tasting at Ani Ramen
Tuesday, July 17, 7 PM – 8:30 PM

Ani Ramen in Jersey City is already home to one of the area’s best Japanese whisky lists, but tonight they’re hosting a special sake dinner that sake fans, newbies, and ramen lovers should all flock to. Tickets are $42, but that buys you two sakes, two Suntory whiskies, three appetizers—served family style over drinks—and your choice of ramen bowl. Not only will you drink sake, you’ll learn about how its made, what flavor profiles you can expect from it, and what it pairs well with (hint: ramen’s high on that list). Email [email protected] for tickets. 218 Newark Avenue, Jersey City; 201-408-9811

Pig Roast Nicoletta Nights at Alba Vineyard & Winery
Saturday, July 21, 5:30 PM – 9 PM

Now through October 6, Alba Vineyard & Winery is hosting a series of “Nicoletta Nights,” a series of wine pairing dinners done in conjunction with chef Michael White (of New York City-based Altamarea restaurant group) and his Nicoletta Pizzeria in Bernardsville, which was featured in our best pizza issue. Italian food won’t be the focal point of Saturday’s pig roast, but the low-and-slow-roasted pig is just $22, with free reservations and plenty of wine available to purchase alongside your meal. 269 County Road 627, Milford; 908-995-7800

Nacho Muthas Taco Festival
Saturday, July 21, 1 PM – 6 PM

If anything can make the mall on a Saturday more crowded than usual, it’s tacos. Correct that, lots of tacos, all gathered in the mercifully air-conditioned indoor pop up event space on level 1 at Garden State Plaza in Paramus. In addition to a massive array of tacos from area vendors—all priced under $5—the Nacho Muthas Taco Festival will feature mezcal cocktails. Participating restaurants include Blue Moon Mexican Café, Tojo Kitchen, and Taquerias Los Gueros, among others. Go for the tacos, or stop by as you shop. One Garden State Plaza Boulevard, Paramus
