Orange Squirrel Chef Included in 50th Anniversary of Cookbook

Francesco Palmieri is included in the 50th Anniversary Edition release of A Treasury of Great Recipes by Mary and Vincent Price

FRANCESCO PALMIERI OF ORANGE SQUIRREL, BLOOMFIELD
Francesco Palmieri chef/owner of The Orange Squirrel, 412 Bloomfield Avenue, Bloomfield (973-337-6421), has been included in the 50th Anniversary Edition release of A Treasury of Great Recipes by Mary and Vincent Price. A quote from him and his wife, Elaine, is on the back of the book and Victoria Price included an anecdote about the Palmieri’s in her Retrospective Preface. Last October 30, chef Palmieri hosted a dinner with Victoria Price at the Beard House, New York City and will be cooking there again tomorrow, October 27 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of the original cookbook.

VICTOR RALLO
Victor Rallo, a man of 100 Italian hats and owner of Undici Taverna Rustica in Rumson and Birravino in Red Bank has purchased Molly Maguire’s at 132 East River Road in Rumson, and will be transforming the restaurant into Surf BBQ. This American BBQ eatery will feature authentic American, pit-smoked meats prepared in the classic Southern technique of smoking, while incorporating a variety of flavor profiles that represent local communities. A wide selection of traditional side dishes and desserts will be available and the bar will feature American craft beers, a large range of American whiskeys, seasonal cocktails, and American wines. Billy Durney, the award winning pit master and owner of Hometown Bar-B-Que in Red Hook, Brooklyn, has been hired as Surf BBQ consultant. RYAN DEPERSIO
Ryan DePersio of Fascino (Montclair), Battello (Jersey City) and Nico Kitchen + Bar (Newark) will be taking over the Thirty Acres site at 500 Jersey Avenue, Jersey City. The new restaurant, which will feature a modern American menu, will be named The Kitchen Step. An opening is planned for early 2016.
