From now until June 30, Morton’s the Steakhouse, Riverside Square Mall, Hackensack, is offering a special steak and seafood dinner for two for $99. The meal consists of two single-cut filets mignons plus a choice of two dishes in each of the following categories: Morton’s jumbo lump crab cake, shrimp Alexander, or broiled sea scallops; Caesar salad or Morton’s salad; and Morton’s hot chocolate cake or key lime pie. On April 13 and 20, bake "biblical" matzoh in a wood-fired oven at a hands-on workshop at Bobolink Dairy & Bakeyard, 42 Meadowburn Road, Vernon. Participants (small children and grandparents welcome) will grind whole-wheat berries, add well water and a bit of salt, roll the dough out by hand, and bake the matzoh on hot stones in the oven. Elijah Stillittano, the new executive chef at Chakra, 144 West Route 4 East, Paramus, has revised the menu. Some items are: asparagus ravioli with goat cheese, preserved lemon, and truffle sauce; breast of duck with cranberry risotto, baby bok choy, and honey gastrique; diver scallops with celery root purée and sautéed watercress; and Oreo cheesecake with Baileys gelato.
