The Embankment, 234 10th Street, Jersey City, recently opened under executive chef Bryan Gregg. Some “I want to try that” items on the seasonal American menu are: roasted littleneck clams with bacon; charcuterie plate; roasted black cod; and lamb loin with broccolini flowers and pureed yams. Chef/owner Josh Bernstein named his newly opened BYO, 9 North, 37 Berdan Avenue, Wayne, after Route 9 in Hyde Park, New York, where he graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Bernstein’s contemporary American menu includes: duck confit with baby frisée, Gorgonzola, and Asian pears; grilled dry-aged sirloin with truffled “mac and cheese”; roasted salmon; and pancetta-wrapped monkfish. A $30 three-course menu is available Tuesdays through Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Java lovers will be pleased to learn that French-press coffee is served. For reservations call 973-832-4284.

Every Thursday and Friday evening from 7 to 11 PM, the new Acoustics in the Attic at David Burke Fromagerie, 26 Ridge Road, Rumson, will present live music, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, and a light-bites bar menu. For more information call 732-842-8088.
