CHEFS WITH HEART

On June 5, the Fourth Annual Chefs With Heart event will be held at the Heldrich Hotel, New Brunswick, to benefit the American Heart Association.

Participating restaurants include: the Bernards Inn, Bernardsville; the Blue Bottle Café, Hopewell; Christopher’s, the Heldrich, New Brunswick; the Ebbitt Room, Virginia Hotel, Cape May; Le Petit Chateau, Bernardsville; Lorena’s, Maplewood; Mama Mia’s Ristorante, Seaville; Mediterra, Princeton; Rat’s Restaurant, Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton; Salt Creek Grille, Princeton; and Tre Piani, Princeton. In addition to signature dishes presented by the chefs and restaurants, guests will enjoy samplings of wines, liqueurs, champagnes, microbrews, pastries, desserts, and more. 6 to 9 PM; $99. HAPPENINGS AT RESTAURANT LATOUR, HARDYSTON

On June 20, a Bordeaux Wines of the Century dinner will be held in the wine cellar at Restaurant Latour, Crystal Springs Resort, 1 Wild Turkey Way, Hardyston. Wines to be served include 1982 Petrus, 1961 Latour, 1982 Cheval Blanc, 1989 Haut-Brion, 1990 Margaux, 1996 Lafite, and 1982 Mouton Rothschild. $1,000 plus tax and gratuity (THIS IS NOT A TYPO). If you love wine and you’re looking to enjoy a quick getaway without traveling too far, consider attending the Wine Academy weekend package June 13 through 15 at Restaurant Latour, which includes studio accommodations for two nights. Friday will feature a wine-and-cheese welcome reception, a wine tasting, a tour of the wine cellar, and a three-course wine-pairing dinner. Saturday’s events will include a continental breakfast, morning and afternoon wine-education sessions, a tapas-style lunch with wine pairings, and a $50 wine credit. WILLIAM DOUGLAS STEAKHOUSE, CHERRY HILL

William Douglas Steakhouse, 941 Haddonfield Road, Cherry Hill, located in Towne Place at Garden State Park, has recently opened. The restaurant features classic cuts of aged Midwestern grain-fed beef, including porterhouse, filet, and cowboy rib eye. STIR, FLORHAM PARK
Stir Martini & Wine Bar, Hamilton Park Hotel & Conference Center, 175 Park Avenue, Florham Park, has recently opened, offering small plates such as lobster and shiitake spring roll, three-bite shrimp with Vietnamese cocktail sauce, lump blue claw crab cake, and lemon rosemary goat cheese on grilled focaccia. In addition to traditional beverages, the drink menu features many varieties of martinis including watermelon, espresso, key lime, raspberry, peach, pear, and melon. Red and white wines, most priced between $11 and $14 a glass, include Fess Parker, Acacia, Clos du Bois, St. Supéry, Louis Jadot, and Montevina. Beer drinkers can opt for Heineken, Black Chocolate Stout, Peak Organic Ale, Samuel Adams Light, Duvel Belgian Ale, and others. Open Sunday through Thursday 4 to 10 PM.

NJ HAS A FOOD NETWORK STAR
Aaron McCargo Jr., of Camden, will be competing on the fourth season of The Next Food Network Star, to be aired starting June 1 at 10 PM. McCargo is the executive catering chef at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Camden. The winner of the show will star in his or her own six-episode series on Food Network.
