Stephen Starr Alums Coming to Collingswood

Plus: Other openings in Long Branch, Jersey City and Fair Lawn.

More Philly folks are crossing the Delaware to set up shop in New Jersey.

Or, in this case, in a longtime location for good eating in Collingswood.

Into the space that was home to Indeblue, at 619 West Collings Avenue, will go Porch & Proper, a modern American restaurant that pledges allegiance to seasonal and local ingredients and gives them accents that span the globe.

Jason and Casey Simkins are the owners, and they announced early this week that their executive chef will be Ryan McQuillan.

All three are veterans of the restaurant scene in the Philadelphia environs. Jason Simkins worked for many years at Buddakan, while Casey Simkins worked in restaurants also owned by the celebrated restaurateur Stephen Starr. McQuillan, meanwhile, did time at Talula’s Table and Mercato.

Porch & Proper, a BYO, will serve dinner. Plans, at this moment, are to open sometime in July. Phone: 856-477-2015; Web: www.porchandproper.com. You also can find Porch & Proper on Facebook.

The seasonal pop-up sibling to the Shore’s Coney Waffle, Coney Ice, has debuted at Pier Village, 48 Centennial Drive in Long Branch. Whereas Coney Waffle, with branches in Belmar, Asbury Park, Red Bank and elsewhere in Long Branch, is an ice cream specialist, Coney Ice delivers exactly what its name indicates: Italian ices – eight flavors, at current count. The pop-up will be open daily from noon to 9 pm. 732-556-6951.
