Wild About Wine Festivals

The Waretown Spring Wine Festival in April and the Jersey Shore Wine Festival in June will both feature an array of Garden State Wineries.

The Second Annual Waretown Spring Wine Festival will take place April 23-24 at the Waretown Recreation and Lake Area, 182 Wells Mill Road, from noon to 5 pm both days, rain or shine. Festivalgoers can look forward to trying wines from DiMatteo Winery, Monroeville Vineyard & Winery, Plagido’s Winery, Valenzano Winery, Wagonhouse Winery, Chestnut Run Farms, Sharrott Winery and CAVA Winery and Vineyard. Live music and crafters, retail vendors and food vendors including Cajun Jax BBX, the Empanada Guy and Jeremiah’s Mobile Concessions will be on site. Proceeds from the event will benefit Sylvia’s Children, which improves the living conditions for more than 1,000 children in Uganda. Sponsors include the Asbury Park Press and WJRZ radio. Cost is $12 in advance or $15 at the gate for those over 21. Designated drivers are allowed in for free. Tickets are available through Eventbrite at this website. Participating wineries for the sixth annual Jersey Shore Wine Festival, to take place noon to 5 p.m. June 11- 12, have been announced. The festival will offer featured samplings from a variety of New Jersey wineries, including Valenzano Winery, DiMatteo Winery; Monroeville Vineyards & Winery; Plagido’s Winery; Tomasello Winery, Inc.; Wagonhouse Winery; Four Sisters; CAVA Winery; and lastly, Sharrott Winery. Two new wineries participating this year are Franklinville’s Coda Rossa and Sewell’s Villari Vineyards. In addition to wine tastings, plan on live entertainment, as well as 40 crafters, retail vendors, food truck vendors and a children’s play area. The festival will be held in Lakewood’s FirstEnergy Park (2 Stadium Way). Cost to attend is $20 in advance, or $25 at the gate for those over 21. Designated drivers are free. No dogs, hovercraft/hoverboards, drones, bicycles or skateboards are allowed. Tickets can be purchased through EventBrite. All net proceeds will be donated to Sylvia’s Children, a Holmdel-based charity that improves the living conditions for more than 1,000 children in the village of Mbiriizi in Uganda. Sponsors include New Jersey Monthly, Asbury Park Press, WJRZ/WRAT and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Branch.
