The Best Food Events in New Jersey This November

There are plenty of fun food and drink events happening this month, including a fall chili cook-off in East Rutherford and a brunch fundraiser in Atlantic City.

National Fig Week; Truffle Month, Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas • Clifton

November 1–7; all month long

Through November 7, this Italian tapas bar will feature fig specials including prosciutto-fig pizza and a fig mule. Through the end of the month, the restaurant is also offering a truffle-forward menu in honor of Italy’s annual truffle festivals; dishes include fig and mascarpone bruschetta, truffle burrata, cacio e pepe, seared duck breast and chocolate terrine.

Kingfisher Bourbon Launch, Halifax • Hoboken

November 2, 6–8:30 pm

This event will debut the launch of Kingfisher, a special Maker’s Mark bourbon, with craft cocktails and a hot bourbon cider. Executive chef Seadon Shouse will serve oysters, steak tartare, cured salmon, squash risotto balls and more. Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased online.

Wine Dinner with Amanti Vino, Osteria Morini • Bernardsville

November 3, 6:30 pm

Osteria Morini is teaming up with Amanti Vino, a specialty wine shop in Montclair and Morristown, for this pairing dinner. Dishes will include grilled octopus, scallop affumicato, braised short rib and fried sweet cheese ravioli. Dinner is $75 for wine, plus $75 for food per person. The Magic with John Stessel, The Fox & Falcon • South Orange

November 3

Magician John Stessel will stop by this South Orange restaurant for a special show. During the performance, guests can sip cocktails by Mission Spirits and enjoy a three-course dinner by chef Kristopher Welz. Tickets are $100 per person; call the restaurant to reserve.

Anniversary Celebration, Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe • Middletown

November 5, 11 am–3 pm

This chocolate shop is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The event will feature a live radio broadcast from Thunder 106, a prize wheel, party favors, face painting and a special anniversary cake made by J&M Bakery. Discounts will be offered on Suzi’s products, and guests can indulge in a chocolate tasting.

Fall Chili Cook-Off, Meadowlands Racetrack • East Rutherford

November 5

Chili competitors can register in three different categories: Homestyle ($1,000 grand prize), Chili Verde ($1,000 grand prize) and Salsa ($500 grand prize).  At the event, guests can sample and vote on the chilis; their fan favorite will walk away with a $250 prize. All three grand-prize winners will earn a spot in the 2023 International Chili Society’s Annual World Championship Cook-Off.

CSCNJ’s Annual Brunch, Linwood Country Club • Atlantic City

November 6, 11 am

For the 8th year in a row, Cancer Support Community New Jersey at Gilda’s Club (CSCNJ) is hosting their annual brunch fundraiser. This year, Jim and Amy Malamut will be honored for their dedication to philanthropy. Guests will enjoy gourmet bites, a Bloody Mary bar and mimosas. The event is limited to the first 250 people; tickets can be purchased online. The cost is $110 per person or $200 for a pair. All proceeds go to CSCNJ.

Damilano Wine Dinner, Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas • Clifton

November 17, 7 pm

Damilano Winery, one of the oldest wineries in the Barolo region of Italy, is providing vintages for this dinner. The menu includes salmon tartare, seared rare tuna, truffle cacio e pepe, beef brisket, and lemon curd with shortbread crumble. The dinner is $110 per person; tickets must be purchased in advance.

Rare Whiskey-Pairing Dinner, La Mer Beachfront Resort • Cape May

November 18, 6 pm

La Mer’s waterfront restaurant, the Pier House, is hosting a four-course whiskey-pairing dinner. Dishes will include stuffed quail, watercress salad with smoked peck, Gorgonzola and maple-pepper vinaigrette, chili-crusted pork rib-eye and peach-blueberry clafoutis. Dinner is $85 per person; reservations are required.

Elderberry Tea Workshop, The Asbury Hotel • Asbury Park

November 22, 6-8 pm

Siren Essentials, a tea shop based in Wall, is hosting a special workshop in Asbury this month. Guests can blend three kinds of organic elderberry tea to make individual tea bags, learning the benefits of each ingredient. Cocktail recipes using elderberry syrup will be suggested and can be made at home. Tickets are $45 per person and can be purchased online.

Tennessee Avenue Restaurants Thanksgiving Specials, Atlantic City

November 23

The Tennessee Avenue venues in Atlantic City are ready to celebrate. Rhythm & Spirits and Cuzzie’s are offering brunch and dinner, with both highlighting a holiday special: turducken pizza. Also on the menu: cavatelli with turkey sausage, broccoli rabe and cannellini beans. The restaurants are offering sit-down and takeout dining leading up to Thanksgiving.

The Garden State Wine Growers Association is hosting a weekend of events and wine deals from wineries across the state. For the wine trail weekend, Bellview Winery in Landisville is offering a red wine hot chocolate and live music by its fire pit. DiBella Winery in Woolwich Township is offering pictures with Santa, and Natali Vineyards in Cape May is offering special discounts on cases of wine and more.

November 25, 11 am-1 pm

Get into the holiday spirit with this special cupcake decorating class. Guests receive a bag of the supplies needed and learn step-by-step how to create Grinch-themed cupcakes and other treats. Guests can take their creations home. Tickets are $40 per person.
