6 Off the Hook September Seafood Festivals at the Shore

Get your fish fix at these crustacean celebrations in September and one in October. Let's get crackin'!

Asbury Park Oysterfest

Sept 7-9: Have a fintastic time at this three-day event that combines fresh seafood, live music and more than 25 craft vendors at Bradley Park.
Fri, 5-10 PM; Sat, 11 AM-10 PM; Sun, 11 AM-6 PM; $3.

Atlantic City Seafood Festival

Sept 8-9: Try tasty creations prepared by local chefs, attend cooking demos and enter the crab-cake-eating competition at Bader Field. A chowder cook-off, pet costume contest, performance by the South Pacific Island Dancers, chainsaw carving competition and live music add to this sea soiree.

$10 admission, $4-$11 entrees.

41st Festival of the Sea

Sept 15: Restaurants and vendors serve up a smorgasbord of seafood, from crab cakes and shrimp skewers to paella and bisques at this annual end of summer gathering in Pt. Pleasant Beach. Hundreds of craft vendors line Arnold and Bay Avenues and live music fills the air.

Crabsecon

Sept 15: Something’s fishy at this inaugural celebration of the back bays of Absecon Creek, from Turner Cover to Faunce Landing. At Turner Cove (Route 30 and Turner Ave) from 11 am-2 pm, children’s activities include a catch-and-release crab tournament, crab races, crab costume contest and a crabby faces photograph contest. From 3-9 pm, Faunce Landing (Lisbon Ave and East Faunce Landing Road) offers live entertainment, a beer and wine garden and a crab-hole tournament.

Chowderfest Weekend

Sept 29-30: You’ll be happy as a clam as you bargain hunt at the Merchant Mart on Saturday. Restaurants compete for best New England, Manhattan and seafood chowders on Sunday during the Chowder Cook Off Classic.

Red Bank Guinness Oyster Festival

Sept 30: Inspired by the Galway Oyster Festival in Ireland, this seafood party offers brews and wine, fried and raw oysters, filet mignon sandwiches, lobster rolls and mini Reubens. Jam out to live music. Vendors and children’s activities offer more fun. The after-party begins at 7 pm at the Dublin House.

Avalon Seafood Festival

Oct 6-7: Taste delectable treats from the sea at this annual event featuring craft vendors and live music at 30th Street & the Beach. (rain date Oct 13-14)
Sat & Sun, 10 am-5 pm
