MURDER FOR TWO
Oct 6-25 The George Street Playhouse presents the off-Broadway musical comedy Murder for Two, a whodunnit where one actor investigates a murder and the other actor plays all of the suspects. And they both play the piano. Times and prices vary. New Brunswick (gsponline.org).

THE NETHER
Oct 9-25 The Centenary Stage Company presents playwright Jennifer Haley’s disturbing sci-fi thriller about a virtual-reality program that allows its users to indulge their darkest desires, from rape to murder. POE BY CANDLELIGHT

FRANKENSTEIN’S FATE
Oct 16-31 The Lord Stirling Theater Company performs the 1823 play Frankenstein’s Fate in the English Barn Theater at the Farmstead Arts Center in Basking Ridge. The play originally opened at the English Opera House in London shortly after Mary Shelley’s classic work was published. 8 pm; $10-$15. (farmsteadartscenter.org).

DRACULA: Lambertville

EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL
Oct 27 & 28 Based on the cult film Evil Dead, this hilarious adaptation depicts what happens when five friends are accidentally possessed by murderous demons. JEKYLL & HYDE: THE MUSICAL

TALES OF EDGAR ALLEN POE
