The Foaming Sugar Scrub of My Dreams

I’ll admit it: I’m a skin care and body-product junkie. That’s why I was thrilled to learn that one of my favorite brands, Duross & Langel, had opened a store in Haddonfield.

The small store is located at 111 Kings Highway East, in Haddonfield’s charming downtown area, nestled among other boutiques and cafes that line both sides of the street. And just like D&L’s original store in Philadelphia, the new location is packed with its natural, handmade products, including body washes, scrubs, soaps, face products, candles and moisturizers.

Now, I love bath and body products. If you’ve seen it advertised in a magazine or on display at a beauty store, then most likely, I have it somewhere in my bathroom. And I love D&L’s commitment to natural and eco-friendly products. According to the company’s website, 96 percent of its ingredients come from botanical sources and the bottles and jars used are 100 percent recyclable.

On my visit to the new store, I felt like a kid in a candy store—but as an adult enjoying sweet-smelling items that don’t pack empty calories. Employees were on hand and ready to answer questions, and my friend and I had easy access to plenty of tester products. That meant we could check out all the different scents—something that is obviously impossible at the D&L website.

My purchases included D&L’s Turkish Fig Foaming Sugar Scrub ($11 for a 4-ounce jar), which has a super-sweet fruity aroma. Other scrub fragrances—for those that don’t care for the super-sweet—include pumpkin oat, grapefruit, lavender oil and mojito oil.

I’m already planning my next trip to Haddonfield. Next on my wish list is D&L’s Bug Off Balm, a 100 percent natural bug repellent, and D&L’s beer soaps—yes, beer—which sound like a great addition to my bathroom’s ever-growing assortment of products.
