The Trouble With Restaurant Websites

Many restaurant websites make it hard to find basic info. It's the opposite of whack-a-mole: instead of smacking down things that pop up, you have to look under every lid to find fundamentals like hours, credit cards accepted, sometimes even phone and address.

You might expect to find this info under About Us. Seems logical, but it doesn’t always pan out. Sometimes the info is under Contact Us, which is where you’ll find hours and directions for Washington House in Basking Ridge.

A logical place to put it is on the home page, as Farm and Fisherman Tavern & Market in Cherry Hill does, also Agricola in Princeton and the Poached Pear Bistro in Point Pleasant Beach (in all three cases you have to scroll to the bottom of the page).

Kudos to the Pluckemin Inn in Bedminster, which has a top of screen category, Hours and Directions. And to Thirty Acres in Jersey City for its top of page Hours click-on.

Almost nobody bothers to list credit cards accepted, maybe because most people carry several and at least one is always going to work.
