17 Music Festivals To Make Your Summer Rock


Outdoor concerts are one of the best things about summer, in our opinion. What better way to embrace the sweltering season than grabbing a few friends, getting outside and seeing your favorite artists? This is your go-to list of music festivals from Memorial Day weekend through August around New Jersey.

MAY

23-24: Electric Daisy Carnival

What: For those into the electronic dance scene, EDC is the perfect way to start off your summer. The big names and epic stages have made this crazy carnival a global phenomenon–and Jerseyans are in the perfect position to be a part of it.

JUNE

5-6: Gentleman of the Road Stopover

What: Pitch your tents and unroll your sleeping bags: This festival offers the rare opportunity (in Jersey, anyway) to camp on the beach. More than 30,000 attendees are expected. Tent camping is first come, first served; $20 per person.
Where: Seaside Heights
Tickets: $179
Headliners: Mumford and Sons, Alabama Shakes, The Flaming Lips, Jenny Lewis.

6-28: Princeton Music Festival

What: The 2015 Princeton Festival features 23 different music and stage performances over a three-week period throughout the Princeton area. The festival also includes workshops, lectures and a young-adult piano competition.
Where: Around Princeton

Headliners: Opera, musical theater, a cappella, a country music duo, Indian music and dance and so much more.

7: Hot 97 Summer Jam

What: Hip Hop lovers, this is the festival for you. Last year, Snoop Dogg teamed up with Wiz Kalifa, Nicki Minaj brought out Drake, Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy. You never know who will show up!
Where: MetLife Stadium

13: Boys of Zummer

What: These well-known fellas are livening up the summer nights with their cross-country tour, offering music ranging from pop punk to rap.
Where: PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel

Headliners: Fall Out Boy, Wiz Khalifa, Hoodie Allen

20: Point Pleasant Jazz & Blues Festival

What: Groove to live jazz and blues bands while perusing the art and vendors throughout the park. Not to mention, river views and a beer and wine garden.
Where: Riverfront Park

27-28: Rock, Ribs & Ridges

What: Rock out while enjoying delicious barbeque and sampling a selection of craft beers. Make it a weekend for the whole family at the nearby campground and enjoy special, campers-only shows Friday night and after the festival Saturday.
Where: Sussex County Fairgrounds

JULY

8-12: Black Potatoe Music Festival

What: Two stages, 43 groups and artists, numerous opportunities to find your new local favorite musician!
Where: Red Mill Village, Clinton

10-12: Anglesea Blues Festival

What: Enjoy music from the genre BB King called, “American music”  while sampling items from the New Jersey State Barbecue Championship and the craft beer station.

11-12: Maplewoodstock

What: Browse art vendors and snack on a delicious variety of food as you are treated to the music of local bands.

18: Sourland Music Festival

What: Lean back with some local food, a cold beer and savor music ranging from rock to jazz while helping conserve the Sourland Mountain region.

18: Asbury Park Blues & Brews Festival

What: Enjoy some shopping downtown, a beer garden and live music all day, just a mere block from the ocean.

24: XPonential Music Festival

What: WPXN 88.5 FM, Philadelphia’s public radio station, hosts its annual music festival on the Camden waterfront. This festival is big on emerging artists, so ntroduce your friends to your favorite up-and-coming acts.

25: Soulsational Music & Wellness Festival

What: An event perfect for those interested in clean living and wanting to bring out their inner yogi. There will be classes, demonstrations and vendors all to “promote a positive lifestyle” while enjoying live music.

26: Bayou Fest

What: The Garden State’s very own Mardi-Gras! Get ready to boogie down in the Jersey bayou.
