Just in time for the spooky season, author Lynda Lee Macken has compiled Ghosts of the Garden State III (Black Cat Press, $8.95). Her fourth book about possessed places features more than 35 historically haunted landmarks, including two in Forked River, Macken’s hometown.

Just in time for the spooky season, author Lynda Lee Macken has compiled Ghosts of the Garden State III (Black Cat Press, $8.95). Her fourth book about possessed places features more than 35 historically haunted landmarks, including two in Forked River, Macken’s hometown.

With more than 100 such sites, she says, “New Jersey is the third most haunted state in the nation.” Macken did some of her research at the Raritan Public Library, which she claims is also haunted.
