Skiing and snowboarding are not for everybody—but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun going downhill this winter. If you’re looking for a winter activity for the whole family that doesn’t require lessons or practice, snow tubing is the way to go. New Jersey has two tubing parks where you can check out the thrills:

❄ The Drop Zone Tube Park at Mountain Creek offers snow tubing from mid-December through mid-March, weather permitting. The resort offers hourly tubing sessions on the weekends for individuals and also hosts larger parties of 30 or more. Prices vary; advance reservations are strongly recommended.

❄ Campgaw Mountain is open every day and offers two-hour rental and tubing sessions at various times during the week and on the weekends. Participants can choose among the park’s multiple runs with varied levels of terrain. Groups of 20 or more may reserve a designated time to avoid the crowds. Prices and times vary; reservations are strongly encouraged and tickets are available online.
