She didn’t exactly marry a prince, but Jersey girl Nancy Shevell landed perhaps the next-best thing—a knight—when she tied the knot recently with Sir Paul McCartney. Shevell, 51, is vice president of administration for Elizabeth-based New England Motor Freight, a family-owned trucking company. McCartney, 69, is—well, he’s Paul McCartney.

Long before she set eyes on her beau, Shevell was a student at John P. Stevens High School in Edison. As reported by the New York Observer, she played for the all-girls football team at Stevens High and listed interests including skiing and flying in the school’s 1977 yearbook (photo, left.) Some 25 years later, she was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. The October 9 wedding ceremony took place at London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall. According to the Associated Press, it is Shevell’s second marriage, McCartney’s third.
