Cheap Local Thrills

Saving cash this summer by staying close to home? The folks at Visit South Jersey Tourism have compiled a great list of 20 frugal finds in our neck of the woods.

If you live in South Jersey, it’s easy to overlook what we have in our own region. How many times have you gone to Philadelphia or all the way to the Shore for outdoor fun or cultural experiences?

But as this list of local attractions proves, you don’t have to travel far to do things like check out some great attractions. It includes a local working farm (Johnsons Farm in Medford); a planetarium show (Rowan University Edelman Planetarium; a top-notch zoo (Animal Kingdom Zoo); and even a jail-turned-museum  (Burlington County Prison Museum). Or check out one of our favorites, the historic Tinicum Rear Range Lighthouse in Paulsboro, which is still active and stands watch over the Delaware River.

Best part? Everything on the list costs under $20—and no bridge or Atlantic City Expressway toll is required.
