Class in Cape May

Looking for a spring play fling? Check out Class by NJ native Charles Evered, premiering in Cape May on May 15.

Class is about acting teacher and student, both at turning points in their theatre careers. Through the stories of Sarah (student) and Elliot (teacher), Class puts on stage the struggle of an actor’s life.

Evered, who grew up in Rutherford, calls Class his “love letter to some amazing and accomplished theatre professionals I’ve had the pleasure of working with and studying under.” Think Chorus Line (which is about the struggles of being a dancer on Broadway) but more on the acting side, and without all the kicking and singing.

You might recognize the main actors, too. Heather Matarazzo, who plays Sarah, has been in The Princess Diaries, Welcome to the Dollhouse, and The Women. Thaao Penghlis, who plays Elliot, was in Days of Our Lives and Mission Impossible.

Class runs from May 15 to June 12 at Cape May Stage. Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors, and $12.50 for students.
