Haddonfield Blowing Out 300 Candles

Haddonfield turns 300 this year. I hope they’re saving me a slice of the cake. As part of its yearlong tercentennial celebration, the township is running a contest asking people why they love the place so much.

Sponsored by the Partnership for Haddonfield, the contest is an enormous effort to collect 300 different reasons why this storied township is so fantastic. Residents from all over the Garden State are being asked to submit a 250-character blurb about why shopping and dining in downtown Haddonfield is so unique, awesome and peerless.

The contest runs through October 3. All entrants have a chance to win a $300 Haddonfield town-wide gift certificate. The winner will be announced October 3.

Haddonfield also is hosting a slew of celebratory events between now and October, including a tercentennial tree sale and planting, a three-session beer tasting festival, a July 4 reading of the Declaration of Independence, several historic tours, and even a reenactment of British troops occupying the Indian King tavern after driving rebel colonists down Kings Highway.
