The weather outside might not be conducive to swimming, but it hasn’t iced over New Jersey Monthly’s readers’ love of The Shore. After leading throughout the competition, The Shore has been voted the winner of New Jersey Monthly’s Reasons to Love NJ Poll, presented by Calandra’s.

The Shore is an indelible part of New Jersey lore, popping up in music, movies and even reality television shows which shall not be named. Whether it’s rocking out in Asbury Park, frolicking in the old school delights in Ocean City or strolling the boards of the Wildwoods, The Shore has something to offer everyone. That’s what makes it the winner of our Reasons to Love NJ Poll.

Rounding out the top five were Diners at second, Full Service Gas at third, Produce (which had not reached the top five in any previous rounds) at fourth and Pizza at fifth.

For our December issue, which coincides with New Jersey Monthly’s 40th anniversary, we catalogued 40 reasons we love the Garden State. Each Thursday we have dropped the 10 lowest finishers and started a new round of voting at noon. For the final round, there were 10 remaining entries.
