Everyone loves an old favorite, but there’s also something exciting about trying a new restaurant or other business. This season at the Jersey Shore, there are several spots joining the scene. Here are some the editors at New Jersey Monthly are excited about this summer.
Anderson Market, Red Bank
This food hall and local gathering space is expected to open this summer with a gourmet grocery, diverse food vendors and immersive experiences. Among the vendors are Booskerdoo Coffee, Nick + Sons Bakery and Namkeen.

Aaron and Julie Wagner of the Bagel Shop
The Bagel Shop, North Cape May
Run by fifth-generation bagel maker Aaron Wagner and his wife, Julie Wagner, this full-service bagel shop doles out bagels that are deliciously crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside, plus sandwiches, in-house cream cheeses and salads, smoked nova, and more goodies. Ingredients are fresh and organic, when possible, grown in the couple’s home garden or from local farms. Aaron previously ran South Street Philly Bagels, which he expanded to six locations from his father’s original store.
Betty’s BBQ and Fried Chicken, Margate
Enjoy classics like St. Louis ribs, brisket, pulled pork, fried chicken and more, right on the Margate bayfront next to sister spot Betty’s Seafood Shack.
Buttermee Pancakes, Long Branch
This mini pancake spot (which serves the breakfast treat with a variety of toppings) opened in Asbury Park last year, and has now expanded to Long Branch.
Hey Peach Bakery, Bradley Beach
Ocean Grove baker/artist Erin Kilker is selling delightful breads, pastries, pretzels, coffees and teas out of this shop along Main Street.
Judy & Harry’s, Asbury Park
Formerly called Heirloom at the St. Laurent, this restaurant was rebranded and now serves Italian classics and Jewish food—everything from a variety of pastas to matzo ball soup—with chef David Viana (Lita, Heirloom Kitchen) at the helm.
Jennifer’s Oyster Bar, Atlantic City
Opening at the outdoor beer garden at Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall, this seafood-focused concept features locally sourced oysters from the Barnegat Oyster Conservatory, clams on the half shell, crab legs and more, paired with draft beers and wines on tap.
Macau Kitchen, Atlantic City
Expect a diverse menu of Asian cuisine, like wonton soup, Vietnamese pho with housemade broth, and pan-fried noodles. The dining space also features a modern gaming lounge.
Mogo Korean Fusion Tacos, Long Branch
This casual Korean fusion spot has expanded from Asbury Park to Pier Village in Long Branch, bringing its fresh tacos to a new crowd.
Mutiny BBQ Company, Asbury Park
This coastal craft smokehouse, already a fave in Asbury Park for its authentic barbecue, now has a second location at Convention Hall.
Palmetto, Asbury Park
Jersey’s BarCo Brands teamed up with Shore chef James Avery to bring South Carolina-inspired fare and cocktails to the former Langosta Lounge space.
Paulie’s Steak Italiano, Atlantic City
This classic steak house offers signature dishes that include osso bucco and lobster ravioli, plus a wide selection of curated wines. It’s open late; stop in for after-dinner craft cocktails and a great bar scene.
The Reef Club, Allenhurst
Locally sourced seafood, from fish and chips to lobster, is the main attraction at this beachfront newcomer.
Rosie’s Pizza, Middletown
Beloved pizzeria Rosie’s now has a second location serving up its artisan sourdough pies. The original is in Point Pleasant Beach.
Steady Hand Cafe, Bradley Beach
This local pop-up known for creative coffee offerings now has a brick-and-mortar location. Founder Ashley Burk has spent years crafting playful, culinary-inspired drinks and building a loyal following.
Stephen Starr Projects at Ocean Casino Resort, Atlantic City
Famed Philly chef Stephen Starr is opening two restaurants at Ocean Casino Resort this summer. One will be open for breakfast and lunch, serving comfort foods like meatloaf and a year-round Thanksgiving dinner, while the other is a steak-frites concept.
