If you’re looking for treasures like fine and costume jewelry as well as new, gently-loved and vintage designer clothing for women, men and kids, head to the Bargain Box in Harding Township (1117 Mt. Kemble Avenue; 908-766-0745). Local shopping enthusiasts flock to this thrift boutique for designer shoes, formalwear, handbags, fashion accessories, decorative home items and even Halloween costumes.

Conveniently headquartered in a sunny, spacious new retail location on Route 202 South between Morristown and Bernardsville, the shop is known for its amazing selection of merchandise since 1960. As its name implies, the Bargain Box offers affordable prices, so it’s not uncommon to see shoppers leaving the thrift boutique with overflowing bags of goodies. Best of all, 100 percent of proceeds benefit the Women’s Association of Morristown Medical Center.

The Bargain Box updates its inventory daily and offers something for everyone, says store manager Maggie Moffitt. In fact, some of the more unusual and extravagant items donated to the shop over the years include vintage Gucci clothing and leather goods, Tiffany bracelets, Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin pumps, a Versace belt collection and even a pristine antique beaver top hat. “Everyone stops in,” says Moffitt. “College students, fashion bloggers and discriminating shoppers come here when they go ‘thrifting.’” Even local fashion plates, such as Nancy Pyne, aka “Princess” Pyne of Somerset County, have been spotted eyeing the shop’s vintage-jewelry cases.

Volunteer employees and customers alike are excited about this new location because it offers two full floors of expanded retail space and larger dressing rooms. The boutique also offers easy access from the North Maple Avenue exit of Route 287.
