“My Way” Wins Sinatra Song Showdown

Throughout the Sinatra Song Showdown, presented by Hudson Whiskey, we faced it all, and we stood tall.

Over the course of our four-week Sinatra Song Showdown, we’ve loved, we’ve laughed and we’ve cried. We’ve had our fill, our share of losing (as 15 songs were eliminated). And now, as votes subside, we find it all so amusing.

In a tight vote, the 1968 hit “My Way” topped the 1956 recording “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” as New Jersey’s favorite all-time song by Frank Sinatra. “My Way” prevailed in the Championship Round of the Sinatra Song Showdown, presented by Hudson Whiskey.

How did we select the competing tunes? We looked at several online rankings of Sinatra songs to compile our original list of 16. Our selections were divided into two eras–pre- and post-1960–and ranked from 1 to 8 for each era based on the online lists. On each side of the bracket, we paired the highest ranking song with the lowest: 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7 and so on.

“My Way,” one of Sinatra’s best known hits, expresses confidence in the face of adversity. Indeed, it is only appropriate that a song that boasts of scraping its way to the top now stands atop of our competition.

To our voters, w say thank you for participating in the Sinatra Song Showdown, presented by Hudson Whiskey. You faced it all, and you stood tall and did it your way.
