Fanwood Takes Home Gold in Small Town Showdown

The Union County borough beat out Lambertville in a landslide.

After four suspense-filled rounds, Fanwood has emerged as the winner of New Jersey Monthly’s 2019 Small Town Showdown. The bracket-style elimination competition, sponsored by SoJo Spa Club, pitted 16 towns against each other.

“I’m just delighted!” crowed Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr upon hearing the news. “In the last 15 years we’ve worked tirelessly to shape Fanwood into the community it is today, and this award is a terrific acknowledgement! What was once a sleepy, bedroom community is now a walkable town with a vibrant town center and a variety of restaurants, interesting merchants and a broad range of cultural events.”

Fanwood recently appeared in our September issue as one of our 16 favorite small towns.

Congratulations to Fanwood—and thanks to all of our readers who voted!
