Giving Back: AeroFarms Awarded $1 Million Seeding Solutions Grant

1. Improving the Quality of Leafy Greens

The Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) awarded a $1 million grant to AeroFarms, an indoor vertical-farming company in Newark. 2. A Restoration in Trenton

The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) received a $10,000 grant from Roma Bank Community Foundation to go toward the purchase and restoration of a damaged 19th-century building in Trenton, the new home of the AACCNJ. Marking the occasion were, from left, Cecilee Abney, John E. Harmon, Deneshia Rowe and Linda Martin.

3. Supporting Public Educational Programs

The Lawrenceville School donated $65,000 to the Lawrence Township Education Foundation in support of educational programs and experiences for Lawrence Township public school students. 4. Coming Together for Community-Based Health Programs

The VNA Health Group raised $400,000 in support of community-based health programs at the company’s Beach Ball celebration. 5. All About the Animals

Enjoying the Purr’n Pooch Foundation Animal Summer Gala were, from left, Nicholas Spadavecchia, Darren Spadavecchia, and Melanie and Mike Polloway. The event raised more than $85,000 for various animal-rescue groups.

6. Running With the Devils

The RWJBarnabas Health Running With the Devils 5K raised $37,000 to benefit the Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville. Celebrating with the NJ Devils Mascot were, from left, Lou LaSalle, Adam Davis, Matt Loughlin, Mary Ellen Clyne, Ken Daneyko, Ken Rosato and Dr. Frank Mazzarella.
