Style: California surfer chic meets healthy, hearty fresh-Mex fare. Chef/owner Brian Katz learned to cook in California and brought his Cali-Mex flavors back home to the Jersey Shore.

Don’t Miss: You came for a burrito, so order one. Traditional favorites include grilled chicken ($8.50) and grilled steak ($9.50). For something a bit out of the ordinary try the blackened catfish burrito with sautéed spinach, avocado and pineapple salsa ($9.50) or the orange-glazed mahi burrito with fresh orange salsa ($10). Get any burrito smothered in chipotle cream sauce, enchilada sauce or traditional mole sauce for an additional $1.99. Signature entrées include pork mole ($14), a mound of juicy shredded pork topped with cheese, lettuce and tomatoes; and shrimp in tequila-lime sauce ($18), both served over rice. The spicy mac ‘n cheese ($9.25) can be ordered with chunks of lobster ($17). Regulars swear by the adobo-glazed wings ($8) served with avocado ranch dressing.

Heads Up: Parking can be tough on this nightlife-busy stretch of Point Pleasant Beach, but there’s a free municipal lot directly behind the shops just across Bay Avenue. Drive around the block, then cut back through the alleyway.

The Scoop: The restaurant received its 15 minutes of fame when the original Belmar location was featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives with host Guy Fieri in 2011. Check it out on YouTube. The Point Pleasant Beach location opened in June 2013. While Belmar has a bar and frequent live music, Point Pleasant Beach is a BYO with a quieter vibe.
