Style: Located half a mile from the Boardwalk, Angelo’s is a 75-year-old institution, serving traditional Italian-American cuisine. One of the few truly kid-friendly restaurants in the area, it is also a favored date spot and accommodates large gatherings.

Don’t Miss: Angelo’s is an apps-for-the-table kind of place. Eggplant rollatini ($7.75) and fried calamari ($7.50) make great pass-arounds. Entrées tend toward staples such as chicken parmigiana ($17.75), veal piccante ($20.25) and shrimp scampi ($19.25). Stuffed shells come with either meatballs or sausage ($11.75). Baked lasagna has five layers of beef, cheese and pasta ($13). Crab fra diavolo over linguine is a winner ($20.25). Steaks are popular. Steak Angelo, a 16-ounce aged sirloin, is cooked Sicilian-style in a cast-iron pan with roasted peppers, black olives and artichoke hearts ($27). Entrées include a house salad served family style. For dessert, the tartufo comes in chocolate or white raspberry ($5.50).

Heads Up: At peak dinner hours on weekends, you might have to wait an hour or more for a table (reservations for parties of 10 or more). But time passes quickly at the bar, where folks are friendly and the bartenders chatty.

The Scoop: Angelo’s, in A.C.’s Ducktown section, has a rambling interior with cavernous spaces as well as more intimate rooms.
