Style: Stylish eatery serving traditional Vietnamese food in a clean and modern space. The dining room features brick and wood with bright-red accents and an open kitchen. Decor includes industrial lighting and metal fixtures in the shape of Vietnam. One wall is adorned with illustrations of popular ingredients used in Vietnamese cuisine.

The Scoop: Chef/owner Tam Phung opened Hên Vietnamese Eatery in June 2018.

The Menu: Start with bánh bèo, steamed rice cakes topped with minced prawn, mung beans and pork crackling; or crispy, twice-fried chicken wings. There are six types of bánh mì sandwiches and nine noodle dishes, including four pho options, such as Hên Pho, made with a flavorful beef broth simmered 24 hours. Rice dishes such as thit nuong, with grilled slices of marinated pork (pictured), are hearty and come with a side of crunchy, pickled vegetables.

Heads Up: The restaurant is relatively new and the waitstaff somewhat inexperienced, but they are attentive. The house-made chili sauce on each table is very hot indeed.
