Across the street from the well-known Bernardsville Inn, the cafe is a hot spot of its own, a favorite hangout with wooden tables and chairs and a large, diner-like menu.

Don’t Miss: The chicken Milanese salad ($10.95) and the double-decker sloppy Joe on rye with Russian dressing, Swiss cheese and cole slaw ($7.95-$8.95) are town favorites. Among the 19 specialty burgers lurk several vegetarian options ($8.95–$9.95). An extensive salad list runs from $5.95 to $13.95. Dishes come with house-made potato chips. Cappuccino and spicy Mexican hot chocolate are available, along with a plethora of desserts, including an excellent black-and-white cheesecake ($3.25 per slice) from Mara’s Café & Bakery in Morristown.

Heads Up: Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with daily specials, the café, though compact, can accommodate larger groups if you call ahead. Delivery and catering are always available.

The Scoop: A BYO, the café is clean and comfortable, and the service is fast and friendly. Busy at lunch, it gets even more hectic on weekends. Call ahead or order at the counter and get your food and drinks to go.
